Hallberg-Rassy 2009 40 SEWelcome aboard C-Lion, a 2009 Hallberg-Rassy 40 SE sloop. Everywhere you look you will find superior craftsmanship combined with exceptional sailing performance. This boat will take you around the world in comfort and will take you around the bay in style. Her Volvo Penta D2-55 is in immaculate condition in an engine room that is equally clean. At 55HP, she will power through most weather but will give you a motoring range in excess of 500 miles. The main sail is an in-mast roller furling on Seldon spars. The jib is also roller furled, enabling complete control of the sails without leaving the cockpit. Her deep keel keeps her on course while her 60 ft mast height allows you to come inside to the ICW when needed. The rudder is controlled by a shaft system. No more pulleys and cables - the rudder is turned by a shaft connected to the rudder.

Walk-Through:

Coming aboard from the aft you will notice immediately the sugar scoop stern with access to the water. The teak decks are in great shape and add to the overall luxury look of this vessel. Going into the cockpit the oversized wheel makes steering her easy. The engine is turned on my a push-control - no more keys! All sheets and lines are led to properly sized winches and cleats.

Going forward, you will see the details surrounding the craftsmanship of C-Lion, The Seldon mast and sails are in great shape. On the forward deck the ground tackle is controlled by a vertical windlass with gypsy - making anchoring easy. The huge chain locker is also easily accessible forward.

Going below decks you immediately enter into the main cabin area. Immediately to port is the generous galley. Cooking is done on a twin-burner propane stove with an oven. The icebox and refrigerator uses a water cooled electric compressor to keep food cold. A stainless steel deep double sink helps with cleanup.

Immediately to starboard is the navigation area. All electrical circuits are clearly market here - and the wiring is extraordinarily clean.

Going forward, the main cabin has split seating on port and a couch on starboard with a fold-down table for eating. The seats on the port lift forward for storage and access. Under the couch is storage and access to one of the diesel tanks.

Continuing forward the head is to starboard with a standing shower that easily separated from the rest of the bathroom. You also have access to all valves, making pumpouts a breeze. The head is a manual head by Jabsco.

All the way forward is the beautiful v-berth with storage and access to the bow thruster mechanicals underneath the mattress.

Going aft from the navigation center is a short passage way with access to the engine room. This area is truly immense for a boat this size with an engine that is very clean. The hot water tank in this area can be heated by the engine or by electricity. You will also have access to the shaft-drive steering system and other mechanicals.

Heading all the way aft brings you to the ower's cabin. The island-queen is center line with plenty of storage and room all the way around. Underneath the bed is the battery box, electrical systems, and access to the rudder system.

The Hallberg-Rassy is European sailing design at its best. She is elegant under sail, exceeds all performance standards, and brings a new level of comfort standard to the sailing world. She is on out of the water in Holden Beach, NC.
